1 package white cake mix
1-1/2 quarts fresh strawberries, cleaned and the tops removed
1/4 cup sugar
1 container cool whip
Preheat oven to 350. Prepare cake according to directions on box. Grease and flour 2 9 inch round pans. Pour batter into pans. Bake 25 minutes or until toothpick inserted in center comes out clean. Cool completely on wire racks.
Reserve 8 strawberries for garnish. Slice remaining strawberries and place in medium bowl. Sprinkle with sugar. Mash lightly. Chill 30 minutes.
Place 1 layer of cake on serving plate. Cover with mashed strawberries. Top with 1/2 of cool whip. Play second layer of cake on top of cool whip. Top with remaining cool whip. Garnish with remaining strawberries.
***If you need a dessert in a hurry use a prepared angel food cake instead of baking a cake.***
